Being a commuter student the only time I am in a residence hall or apartment is when I am visiting friends. One group of my friends in particular, lives in Cardiff Hall. Being the fabulously organized and hygienic young women that we are, two of my close girl friends were doing their laundry. When I arrived, the conversation turned quickly to the terrifying excuse of a laundry room that Cardiff has. I just figured, they were being overly dramatic, but let me tell you… don’t go down there without a laundry buddy, baseball bat and mace.

The dull, dreary room is only the beginning, as you walk down the hallway there are wooden cells on each side of you. Could they be for those who don’t pay the rent? Gravesites of former landlords? Holding cells for rowdy residents? Take your pick. All I can say is when doing my laundry I would not want to go down there alone. You would think, paying rent and living in the complex, they would make sure there was a safe and updated facility for residents to use. Nope, not in Cardiff or at least not in apartment building 8007. The only entertaining part is trying to come up with scenarios to make sense of the incredibly creepy room. Now at least, with Halloween right around the corner, you don’t have to go far from campus to get a good fright. Simply walk across York Road and make your way to apartment building 8007, a haunted house is closer than you think.
