In theory, “The Men Who Stare at Goats” should be hands-down the funniest movie you will see between now and the start of next summer’s comedy season; and it’s made all the more frustrating by the fact that it’s not.

Saturday’s rain didn’t stop the Towson student athletes from participating in the annual Pigskin Pass fundraiser, which raised more than $24,000 for the Special Olympics.
Transfer quarterback Pat Devlin needed just three quarters to lead the Delaware Blue Hens to a 49-21 romp over the Tigers on Homecoming Saturday at a rain-soaked Johnny Unitas Stadium. Devlin was 9-15 for 127 yards and two touchdowns, both to receiver Mark Duncan, and also added 49 yards rushing in the victory before sitting out the fourth quarter with Delaware leading 49-0.

Friday night was rainy and cold, but that did not stop students from trudging up to the Towson Center to go to the pep rally and get “wild with pride” before the Homecoming football game.
Despite a failed attempt to produce a photo of students spelling out “Towson” at a previous Tigerfest, the Student Government Association decided to give the photo a second chance for this year’s Homecoming with the human spelling of “TU.”
The Queer Student Union’s bi-annual drag show had about 600 students laughing, singing, dancing, getting lap-dances and screaming “We love pussy” for over two hours in the Chesapeake Rooms of the University Union Wednesday night.

Is it because we want to have our ultra-stylized visions of romance and social life confirmed? Towson’s campus did not have a quiet summer as the continued construction of the College of Liberal Arts Complex brought noises from machines and workers.
In addition to the ongoing construction of phase two, the summer was reserved for faculty to move into the completed phase one portion of the CLA Complex.
As of August 19, finishing touches were being added to phase one. This included furnishing offices and installing computers, phones and other equipment.

Loyola College left shaken after Parente murder/suicide
After four days of investigation there are still loose ends to be tied.
The motive is unclear, though there is certainty that the Parente family tragedy has left students and community members shaken.
Baltimore County Police confirmed Wednesday morning that William Parente, 59, murdered his wife and daughters, one a Loyola College sophomore and the other an 11-year-old, before taking his own life at the Sheraton Baltimore-North hotel, less than a mile away from Towson University on Dulaney Valley Road.
